God on the Move: A Worship Series on Technology and Innovation

In this season of fast-moving technology, it is easy for faith to feel like it is falling behind. But innovation and technology have always been part of the human experience of God and faith. God’s Spirit constantly moves to inspire us and bring us together in community. This 3 week worship series explores different technologies employed in the Bible and church history- from Paul riding on a ship to Martin Luther and other reformers using the printing press to jump start the reformation. This series includes 3 original liturgies, title graphics, planning guide with hymn suggestions, promotional blurbs, and sermon starters. Pairs well with God on the Move: Faith and Democracy.

Sample Call to Worship from the God on the Move: Faith and Technology Series

One:    We are constantly in motion, with our minds and bodies often going in different directions.

All:       Now, we pause, and we bring our whole selves together for worship.

One:    Our culture has advanced technologies to quickly move all around the world – bikes, cars, planes, and even rockets to outer space.

All:       But we need to remember to stop moving, too.

One:    In this hour, let us explore how connected we are as one community.

All:       In this worship, we will imagine how to travel in new ways with our minds and hearts.

One:    God is on the move!

All:       Let us rejoice and follow!
